Cooperation with clinical investigators, supervisory bodies, study groups and pharmaceutical manufacturers is of vital importance for the success of our clinical trials.
With around 500 study centres and more than 1,000 clinical investigators in Germany, the German Breast Group is a strong breast cancer research network. We also collaborate with numerous other national and international study groups and leading pharmaceutical manufacturers.
In order to promote the exchange of information between the clinical project managers, the trial managers and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry on a sustainable basis, we hold regular meetings at the study centres.
An independent Data and Safety Monitoring Committee (IDMC) ensures that trial data are monitored and that trials are conducted in compliance with good clinical practice (GCP). Twice a year, we provide the independent members of the IDMC with access to our current database for this purpose.
Nowadays, the development of new treatment methods for breast cancer calls for a high level of international cooperation involving scientists and practising physicians all over the world.
The implementation of international multicentric trials requires close cooperation with other national and international study groups. The German Breast Group is an important part of this global scientific network of clinical researchers. Prof. Loibl is a member of the board of directors of the Breast International Group (BIG), an umbrella organisation with over 50 international breast cancer study groups. The BIG implements large-scale drug registration trials in cooperation with leading study groups and pharmaceutical manufacturers. The GBG has made a successful contribution to this work in the past and now manages trials itself on behalf of the umbrella association.
Our cooperation partners include the following organisations:
GBG Forschungs GmbH is also a member of the TMF (Technology and Methodology Platform for Networked Medical Research – Technologie- und Methodenplattform für die vernetzte medizinische Forschung e.V.).
